I found that after coming back from a GAMSTOP exclusion period (before excluding again which I did last year) certain sites like SkyBet, Betfair (part of the same group I believe) only let me have a small deposit limit of a few hundred a month but you’re right, there are also regulated sites who will still let you lose ridiculous sums in short periods without any questions asked.

I don’t recall losing huge amounts on the regulated sites that was sourced from deposits only winnings but I can definitely relate to the darkness you feel after losing several thousand in a few hours, you have to be a strong person to get over that I think. I know people who cannot move on if they’re ripped off for £50 for a non-gambling purpose.

Yes there should be much more control you should not be allowed to just walk in off the street and do that it should be a membership scheme to play with options to block it would be easy for them to do why do you think they open till 10pm trying to catch victims they have the facilities on these terminals to enforce it but do not use it

Should be stricter regulations, like if you've self excluded there's a window where you can only deposit X amount per month/year, and you can't deposit over a set amount unless you've completed a KYC, and even then there's a cap depending on earnings etc. Maybe even have a system where all the casinos work in unison and the limits are capped in a sort of umbrella fashion where deposits from different casinos all add up to a singular deposit cap if that makes sense.

Gamblur

Yes but this is the shops as I was barred from online but they still take the piss all this do you want a coffee etc trying to be your pal

paulmcewan05

they're opportunist too, it's their fiduciary responsibility to make profit, that's their base goal as a business, customer care will always come second to that

paulmcewan05

Oh I see, I imagine it is actually easier to lose large sums in-store as how would deposit limits even work? I’ve only been into a betting shop a handful of times but I know what you mean, I went to a Merkur casino recently and they were handing out mini packets of Haribos!

Gojira7346

I could not believe that day not even asking are you ok with this just sitting chatting n joking blood sucking termites

Gamblur

You do not have any limits at all they just take as much as your card allowed but I got the block on my bank card and blocked myself from most of them but there is always a new one or one your not blocked in but I would never go in again anyway that convinced me how rigged it is and what they are about and I tried to do a treble for £200 and got told there is a limit of £50 on this bet ffs

It's actually disgusting, in store you'd think they'd keep an eye out...

Honestly between some of the things I've read on this thread and my own personal experience, i have a really soured opinion on gambling in general now, used to buy scratchcards whenever i went into a shop, haven't bought one in months

guys something is not right I swear to you, I got a phone call from my bank that a chargeback with demanding to know the website that you had this information from which it this thread, my bank wants personally to know theis website thread, I think something is hidden even the bank is part of the organization

I agree that would be a positive step for players especially problem gamblers. My suspicion is the betting operators wouldn’t be willing to do this as they wouldn’t want to allocate the staff and financial resources to upgrading their systems in such a way to share this information with competitors about how much of their limit players’ have left as well as the fact they would then lose out on money from players if their limit is reached elsewhere. The current status quo of the responsibility for safer gambling being mostly on the player suits them too much unfortunately.

Im surprised I still get tempted slightly but its a lot easier to beat it now when you have been through it all like I have I do not know how I did it any other poor person just kills themself I must have been made of strong stuff to get through it all

Gamblur

It's a rigged system in their favor, they definitely wouldn't agree to it but if it was legally enforced by law they wouldn't have a choice, sadly i don't think that will happen anywhere, let alone in the UK.

paulmcewan05

Think there's a lot of resilient people in this thread, it's good you've not given into the temptation and the fact you're helping people on here still says a lot about your character. Hopefully none of us ever gamble again

well I am gambling with shops the thing that I don't understand I am self excluded in shops for 1 year with Moses and online for 6 years, I was still able to gamble in shop, I won 500£ from 50 bet I thought he will verify my name and say you are self excluded, he ended up didn't give shit and gave me the winning in cash, I feel something wrong with the system it's like a matrix

Gojira7346

I will sleep well on that note ! what does not kill you only makes you stronger ! I see it as a learning curve now and yes its all about fight now winning that battle against the weakness in your head plus safety in numbers so us pulling together is strength keep clean all👌😏

abdelilaharhmir

I called up and complained I was let in a shop on moses then the manager of the shop a woman threatened me in the Post office saying you nearly cost me my job

abdelilaharhmir

Oh the system is massively flawed, i don't think the regulations are strict enough and i don't think they're enforced either, the saying is true, the house always wins

paulmcewan05

Definitely, it's a steep learning curve we've all been through but hopefully we've all taken something positive away from it, it's definitely a benefit to have a thread of people who have been through similar things
