How to report a site for not following Responsible Gaming rules

Hi everyone - Im in California and used a social casino that did everything to avoid the requests for responsible gaming - time outs, account closure and purchase limits all included. The site is licensed, by the Curaçao Gaming Authority, but they havent replied yet. Any idea who to report this to? Iv tried various departments here and they keep passing me along to another. Any input would be helpful.

It sounds like there may be some confusion here. Typically, social casinos (where you play with coins or virtual currency, even if you can purchase more) are not covered by gambling licenses such as Curaçao’s. That’s why responsible gaming tools are often limited or optional in those environments.

On the other hand, if the site you used is a real-money online casino that also offers a social version under the same brand, then the Curaçao Gaming Authority would indeed be the place to contact. However, it can take time for them to reply, and not all operators actually fall under their direct oversight.

To get a clearer picture, could you share the exact name or website of the casino? That way we can check whether it is truly licensed in Curaçao (and therefore subject to gambling regulations), or if it is simply a social product where different rules apply.

This casino does not have a license, so it should be purely a sweepstakes casino, and as Radka described, it is not possible to complain to any authority in this case.

I couldn't find any license on the website either, so it will probably be difficult to resolve anything with a casino like this.

I assume you've already tried and got nowhere, right?

Iv read they are with the Curaçao Gaming Authority but do need to confirm.

It is not possible that sweepstake casino has a Curacao license. I tried to check with our team and they told me the same, casino has no license.

But we have an information that maybe here they can help.

Try this link- https://oag.ca.gov/about

Find in the blue column- contact- Gambling Control and maybe they can help you.

I would appreciate if you update me with whatever they tell you.

Your right, Jaro. I asked last night. I have contacted them before, and they tell me on line gambling is illegal in California. They cant help.

Hello, I apologize for saying this, but it explains why these sites operate as sweepstakes models rather than standard online casinos. Frankly, I fear there isn't much we can provide aside from the complaint.

To be fair, there is no significant difference between an unlicensed casino and sweepstakes; the lack of official support is the same. I sincerely hope there is something we can do for you.

Thanks so much for being honest. No wonder California is trying to get these sites shut down.

You are welcome. To be fair, there are some sweepstakes worth trying, with a really great approach and fair rules, yet still the fact that those sites are of another sort is, in my opinion, speaking for itself. On the other hand, many real online casinos licensed in Curaçao or Costa Rica are literally on the same safety level, if you ask me. Well, it is always about the people and the willingness to be fair.

If I'm not mistaken, it is not just California at the moment. 🙂

Yes indeed. Im working with the sites manangement today to try to resolve this. Very stressful.

I guess so!

On the other hand, I'd like to think it is quite positive news. I mean, as long as they are still talking to you, there is some hope.

What have you been discussing that is worth sharing? Something thoughtful on their side, perhaps? 🙂

wild how "responsible gaming" is sold like a safety net, but when you actually need it, the net’s full of holes. reporting feels like shouting into a void, and everyone points to someone else. Maybe that’s the quiet truth: the system’s designed more to look ethical than to act ethical.

I'd say there is no real system at all. I mean, as long as there is no concrete setup for self-exclusion requests and associated steps and deadlines, I guess the responsible gaming is fully in the hands of operators.

I recall few players whose accounts have been closed due to potential risk; those players were very unhappy about that, saying they were perfectly in control. I'm not quite sure where the net lies and where it ends.

Depends on the concrete situation, I'd say.

Yeah, I’ve wondered about this too, and the thing with slot machines is that every spin is totally independent thanks to the RNG, so even if two people hit "spin" at the exact same time, the outcomes are different for each player. It’s kind of like having thousands of tiny digital coin flips happening behind the scenes for every single spin. If you want to experiment and see RNG mechanics in action without risking much, you can try out – these sites let you play real money games with a low deposit, which is perfect for testing strategies and just getting a feel for different slots. I’ve spent some evenings just spinning small bets there, checking out bonus rounds, scatter features, and how paytables behave, and it’s surprisingly fun while low-risk. Honestly, doing this makes it easier to understand how random outcomes work and gives you a bit of insight into what drives those lucky streaks or frustrating dry spells in online casinos.

I did contact the California Department of Justice who said they only oversee tribal casinos and cardrooms. They suggested I contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Oh, that was an unexpected turn of events, at least for me. Did you report that already?

I hope you don't mind my curiosity, but I'd like to know if the ICCC can do anything for the players. I've never had such an opportunity, but I can imagine how it must sound. 🙂

Hello, I'm not sure how it fits the previous conversation, but I'd like to say that I had to delete the link. I'm sorry, sharing links to affiliate sites is forbidden.

In any case, I suppose one can test games in a free mode; however, the settings may be slightly different, based on what the players are writing on the forum. 🙂

Well, one thing if you don't mind: trying different games with small bets can be entertaining, but it won’t actually teach the RNG. The random number generator doesn’t care whether you bet one cent or ten dollars, the outcome is just as unpredictable.

What you can learn that way is how volatile a slot feels, how its features trigger, and whether you personally enjoy it. But as for RNG itself, there’s nothing to practice, it’s just randomness doing its thing inthe end.

if the site’s under curacao you’ll need to go through the curacao gaming authority directly, though responses can be slow. you can also flag it with organizations like eCOGRA if they’re listed under that. worst case, share the details on watchdog forums so others are aware while you wait on a formal response.
