I was able to play and deposit without any issues, but after getting a win the casino suddenly asked for verification. Is this standard practice, or something to be concerned about? Curious how common this is for others.

It is completely normal. Usually casinos don't ask for verification with the deposit because it would be time-consuming to verify all the players; they just come to play and then go, for example.
