How are casinos rated?

I play a lot on different sites and have wondered how casino guru rates sites. When I see offers for tournaments and they have predatory terms and conditions I ask myself has casino guru done it's homework or do they recommend sites for some other reason.

For instance wild casino has a $50,000 grand prize tournament which has a 50x rollover and a 2x max cash out. That mean if you were a winner you would then have to wager $2.5 million before you could withdraw a max cash out of only $100,000. Now I believe in luck I wouldn't gamble if I didn't but terms like these are impossible to meet and greedy as can be. Not saying it cannot be done but I can say that I bet nobody has ever done that and if they have I bet they work for the casino. So how does a very good reputation get given to a site that obviously has teams that are not in the best interests of their players? Also it might be helpful when discussing sites that an important factor such as not being able to make a withdrawal for 7 days if you use a credit card for deposit. No gambler I know is going to have money on the casino floor for seven days without using any of it and losing it all back in that time. Things like this make one question if casino guru is a marketing partner with the sites they approve or just not thorough in their reviews. Any thoughts would be interesting to hear

That is scummy.

I think reputation is mainly based on the number of complaints and the casinos' willingness to resolve them. They have deducted points for certain casinos for unfair terms if I'm aware.

Maybe their reputation is warranted for not having a complaint, I do feel the size of the casino (they mention it's a small one) should play a bigger part in the rating as well.

The reputation is based on so many factors. For example justified complaints submitted not just here, but on any other websites, withdrawal limits, payment options, licensing authority, overall reputation gained through time (fresh casinos have lower ratings), unfair terms and conditions, responsible gambling policy, dormant account policy + some others.

Regarding the 50x rollover on the tournament prize - of course it's stupid, but it's not a form of cheating, scamming the players until the terms and conditions are visible to players. It's simply just a very bad tournament that nobody should join.

Anyway, not having the option to withdraw is strange and imho unfair. I'll send it to Matej - our reputation team leader. Thanks for the info!

Quick question, since this seems to be on topic.

I find it a bit odd that casinos that operate without a license only get a black text with (Casino operates without an official license!) , but some licensing authorities get a warning or a questionable note (some don't do anything for the players, so there might as well be none). Shouldn't the lack of any license be a bigger red flag?

Actually when you have no license, you get deducted more points from the rating compared to when you're licensed in Curaçao, but I understand your point. We could possibly adjust the design accordingly.

We have "a reputation meeting" tomorrow where we deal with all the stuff related to ratings and complaints so I'll bring it on the table.

Just letting you know that we talked about it today. We currently work on a brand new look of the casino reviews page and we'll make sure that it will be more visible for the users when the casino operates without a license 🙂

So we're not going to update the current look, but I believe that the new one should be released within a month.
